Devlog Week 11
Hello everyone, Max is back for another update;
This week we had our first official play test. I believe it went well as our team got the much needed player input to our game. We had 10 play testers and had a questionnaire for the participants to fill out after they had completed our test. The play testers had some very interesting advice and ideas that me and my teammate had not thought of. What interested me most was during the game, not a lot of people found the wolf, and if they did, found it way to easy to lose it. Some other bits of feedback we got were, its very difficult to see the wolf, getting the sheep into the actual pen, even if right next to it was very difficult and most of all, we need to add sound to the game, something we hadn't had time to do.

This week my job was to make an end screen and make a second level. For the end screen I realised there will be different endings, depending on if you die, the sheep dies, or you get the sheep into the pen. So before the play test I added different text for each type of ending you get. Since I didn't spend much time on this there were a few issues during the tests that I had to fix but after a few play testers noticed the bug I fixed it.
After the play test Korn and I talked about the second and third levels we had planned, and decided to scrap them, in order to just have one level take away the unnecessary hassle of making different animals and different ground. Instead we plan to add multiple sheep to the one level with the wolf coming out after the first sheep is put into the pen. And add more quality of life mechanics to the game.

In this week I decided to go add more audio. I realised from the playtest that what would enhance the game would be if the wolf had a different audio when it was chasing the player, giving more of a hint by hearing the wolf pace was not enough, as it would just tell the player that the wolf nearby, and it would be better f the players got another sound indicating that they were being chased. Since the game is played in darkness. Sometimes having more indicators would make it easier. Once it was trimmed and edited I put it in a file for later.
I also changed the menu and end screen background. What max did was great! But it felt misleading with the light background on what the game was supposed to be, therefore I changed the vibes to fit the actual game!
The wolf also has 2 animations now, a walking and a chasing animation. Since the wolf never stops moving there is no reason to make more animations that necessary! But the same issue with the sheep, I could not figure out how to code so that the wolf could switch between animations on code. Therefore I left it to our lead coder for later on!
