Devlog Week 12

Hey everyone, It's Max back for another Devlog

------Max---------

This week I was finishing up on the final touches from the feedback we received from the previous weeks play test, and then added some more quality of life to the game. This week I added a piece of text that appears on the screen whenever you battery on the flashlight runs out, so that the player will know what has happened and how to refill the light, this text will only appear one the screen once, no matter how many times the light runs out. With this I added 4 images on the top right on the screen to indicate what level the battery is at. After 75% of the battery is used, only 3 images will remain. if only 50% of the battery remains only two images will appear, and so on. This tells the player how much of the battery is remaining. Letting them not be blindsided when the light suddenly turns off.

I also added a pause menu, that completely pauses the game and all the objects, that allow you to either restart the level, or go back to the main menu to look at the tutorial again. After the play tests I saw how many players don't look at the tutorial before they play the game, so this lets them go back and check out the tutorial and restart the level if needed.

This week, I finally made the battery model! Properly for sure! I placed it on a box inside the shack, but I realised it could be easily missed if a person was not looking hard enough as it was dark. Not only did I decide to add a lamp inside, I also decided to add a glow to the battery ! Sure this isn't as realistic but from multiple games I've played in my life,  I realised that something glowing really does attract my attention immediately.

I added dialogue at the beginning of the game also. This is so that the players knew what the goal was, this is because there were some people who just jumped right into the game, therefore having a bit of dialogue at the beginning I decided would be perfect for it as well!

An invisible wall was also placed outside the stone gate in case people decided to find a way to hop over it.
